Trains to London Paddington cancelled or delayed after ‘trespass incident’

Train services to and from the station were halted earlier this morning (April 20) following a “trespass incident” in the area.

All lines have now reopened, but trains running to and from the station may still be cancelled, delayed by up to half an hour, or revised as the service recovers from the earlier disruption.

Services to the major London station are expected to return to normal after 9am.

Travellers using the Elizabeth line should also allow for short notice alterations and platform changes, National Rail warned, advising people to listen closely to station announcements or ask a member of staff for further information.

Elizabeth line customers can use their tickets at no extra cost on London Buses, London Underground, South Western Railway, and Great Western Railway via any reasonable route.

Meanwhile, Great Western Railway customers can use their tickets at no extra cost on the following services:

  • South Western Railway between Reading and London Waterloo
  • London Underground between London Paddington and London Waterloo
  • Elizabeth line services between Reading and London Paddington
  • Chiltern Railway between London Marylebone and Oxford

National Rail said if people find their train is cancelled, they can travel on the two trains scheduled before the cancelled train or the two trains scheduled after.

“If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.”

The rail authority advised travellers to check the latest updates via the journey planner on the National Rail website, and reminded customers they may be entitled to compensation if their journey is delayed.
