The Green candidate’s victory in the Cippenham Green by-election was announced at about noon.
Former council leader Councillor Dexter Smith (Con, Colnbrook and Poyle) and Labour councillor Christine Hulme (Herschel Park) attended the count at Observatory House.
Out of 1,678 votes cast, Ms Hart secured 409, while Conservative contender Raja Muhammad Fayyaz came second with 404.
Speaking to the Local Democracy Service (LDRS) after the confirmation of her victory, she said she was ‘pleased’ with the progress of the Green Party.
“It’s the beginning of [the] Greens in Slough, and we are here to stay. We want the best for our community,” she said.
She added that the results showed ‘every vote counts’ and encouraged all residents to use their vote ‘regardless of who they’re going to vote for in the future’.
Ms Hart said: “As residents, we should have a say in what happens in our community.
“That is why I’m here, to advocate for the people who live in Cippenham Green who are affected by the decisions that are made there.
“I will always do my best to engage with them and make sure that their voices are heard in the council.”
In her role, she said she wants to bring transparency to the residents and make them aware of things before ‘it gets to a point where it’s too late for us to act on it’.
“I just want to build a safe and friendly community,” she added.
The 1,678 votes cast represented a 32.13 per cent turnout for the ward, with 76.77 per cent opting for postal votes.
The by-election was called after the resignation of Conservative councillor Robert Stedmond in April.
Following the Green Party’s victory, Cllr Smith told the LDRS that this was ‘a protest vote’.
He said: “I think when you’re cleaning up someone else’s mess, you don’t have much of a chance to do nice things that people like to see.
“We would have liked to have done more as a Conservative administration that would be clear benefits to people, but we’ve had a lot of hard work to do clearing up the mess that we inherited”
Cllr Smith said, ‘we’re almost there’ and hopes that the Conservative administration ‘will be in a better position next year’ when the 2027 elections are due to take place in the borough.
Five candidates put their names forward in a bid to replace him.
Residents took to the polls yesterday (Thursday).

Eight ballot papers were rejected from the total votes cast.
