Woman scammed in Maidenhead town centre

A WOMAN was scammed in Maidenhead town centre whilst taking out cash from an ATM machine.

The elderly woman was shopping in the town on Monday, March 7, when a woman tapped her on the shoulder.

The woman said there was a £5 note on the floor which ‘may have dropped out of her purse’.

Police said the victim thanked her, withrdrew her cash and walked away.

The same woman then came up to the victimin the Nicholson Centre and apologised, claiming the £5 note was hers and if she could have it back.

Thames Valley Police said the woman then opened her purse and a man reached over and snatched her cash and bank cards.

Police are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone with information to contaact police quoting reference number 43220098325
