Sainsbury’s respond to complaints on noisy drivers in Slough car park

A SUPERMARKET chain has responded to the recent complaints about late-night drivers in its car park.

Neighbours who live near the Sainsbury’s Uxbridge Road store have been dealing with ‘racing’ drivers around the car park for years, resident Preetika Verma said.

Cars are seen and heard “revving their engines” until the early hours of the morning.

Ms Verma, who lives on Dolphin Road, said her and her neighbours are “fed up” with the “hideous” noise.

She explained they are getting woken up in the middle of the night.

However, the supermarket chain has now responded to the recent complaints raised by Ms Verma.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said: “We are in touch with Ms Verma to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and listen to their concerns, so that we can look at measures we may be able to introduce to stop this from happening in the future.”

Ms Verma said she is grateful to Sainsbury’s for getting in touch with her about the issue.

“It feels like they are now taking the noise problem seriously,” she said.

“But there is a simple solution, which is to close the big metal barrier at the entrance of the store at night time.

“When Sainsbury’s called me they referred to there being a new barrier, but it is clear they was talking about where deliveries take place rather than the customer entrance, and when I pointed out that the store has had a solid barrier since it was the co-op, they were surprised.

“I hope my conversation with Sainsbury’s and me highlighting the problem more publicly will solve this longstanding problem.”
