The pub announced its closure in November after struggling to get back on its feet after the pandemic. It is incredibly sad to see an institution that has operated as a pub since the 19th Century close down. But the truth is, it wasn’t making enough money.
Surely seeing the historic building take on a new lease of life is preferable than the alternative – leaving it to become another abandoned eyesore or worse – knocked down altogether for housing.
